Breaking Strongholds
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
(2 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Scripture tells us that there is a battle going on in our minds. Our thoughts dictate our actions. That’s why the enemy will do everything he can to get you thinking in the wrong direction. Sometimes, it’s not our own thoughts that are holding us back; sometimes it’s that we’ve believed the negative things that other people have spoken over us. Those words are like seeds. If you dwell on them long enough, they’ll take root and become a reality. In life, there will always be people telling you what cannot be done, speaking negative things. Too often we latch on to those negative words and develop what the scripture calls a “stronghold.” That’s a wrong thought or action that keeps us from God’s best. The way you break those negative strongholds is by rejecting the lie, forgiving the person, and embracing the truth of God’s Word. In other words, you have to choose to delete that negative file in your mind. Today, why don’t you take inventory of your thought life? Ask yourself, “Where did these thoughts come from? Do they line up with what God says about me?” Break the negative strongholds and embrace God’s truth so you can be all that God has called you to be!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I choose to reject negative thoughts. I choose to reject lies from the past. I break every stronghold through the power of Your Word and embrace Your truth which sets me free in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Upstream Thoughts I Need To Let Go Of

We all have upstream thoughts if we are honest.  Here are a few of mine that I need to turn into upstream thoughts so that I can quit defeating myself.  By listing them here, I'm blessing them and letting them go.

• I can't lose weight no matter how hard I try.
• Diabetes has a mind of its own.
• I need to be thin to be pretty.
• I'm not a confident person.
• People are tired of all my posts on Facebook.
• If this doesn't sell, I'll keep it.
• I can't afford this.
• I hate winter.
• I blame myself for losing a toe.
• Why don't some people like me?
• I'm fat.

That's the tip of my list.  I'll bet that you have one too.

Those are all upstream thoughts that I need to change into downstream thoughts and BELIEVE them.  I know that's the hardest part in changing my thinking about myself.  I'll do it though.    I want to make room for the blessings streaming towards me.  If I don't, I'll keep attracting all of the negative results associated with those upstream thoughts.

Nothing I want is upstream.

I need to let go of the oars and go with the flow downstream.

 

Will 2011 Be Your Year?

I was watching Joel Osteen this morning and he declared that we should view 2011 as our year. The past is the past. We shouldn't drag it into the new year with us. God's abundant blessings are just waiting to chase us down. We need to believe they are and be open to them.

I agree with him wholeheartedly.

We all know that life can change in an instant. I've had it happen to me and I'm sure you have too. I have known many people in my life who are waiting for the other shoe to drop. They'll tell you that things are going too smoothly. Something is going to rain on their parade.

And it will.

They are upstream thinkers paddling against the flow of life.

We attract what we believe.

I declared today that 2011 will be my year. I'm purposely choosing the downstream thought that when my life changes in an instant it will be the result of an awesomely abundant blessing God has given me. I will arise to a new level I have never dreamed of before.

Why?

Because that's how I'm visualizing it. I see myself thin, healthy, wealthy, happy, and smiling a smile that will rival the brightness of the sun. I'm believing what God promises.

I'm floating downstream and letting the abundant things flow to me.

I'm expecting blessings in 2011 and I'm sure that I'll get them.

Will 2011 be your year too?
